I have been so busy that I haven’t written in a long time, but today is an extremely special day!
After a long, hot summer…and I realize that living in central Arkansas, the heat is not over…Fall begins today. That always has people breathing a sigh of pending relief coming. But there’s more!
September 23, 1995, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center, Pine Bluff, Arkansas, a little girl was born into the Terry and Deedee Harrison family. Should I say that Katelyn Dianne Harrison practically popped out into her GrannyMaw’s hands? I should say that! I had just stepped into the room. No doctors. No nurses. Just Deedee and our mom.Even though she may not know that these were the first words spoken after she entered this world, they were. Those were the words I heard. ‘Deedee, we have a baby!’
This precious child is twenty-eight years old today. She was a gift the day she was born, and she remains a gift to us. For the last years of her Paw’s life, she was the medicine that beat all drugs. She has been much of a sunshine-seeker, turtle-hunter, and cheesecake-eater/baker. She is now a fantastic aunt, niece, daughter, sister, granddaughter, and nurse.
Yes, the Aiken family finally got a nurse. After Aikens, our grandmother, wanted that for Deedee and me, we finally have one in the family! We are proud of her!! She is working a bunch. Working nights in ICU in two hospitals in Monroe, Louisiana. WOW!
The best thing about this day, right now…12:10 p.m…she is almost here! It has been too long since we have seen her! I must go and greet her!
Happy Birthday, Katie-Bug! You just have no idea how much I love you!
