Today, June 29, 2023, is one day away from me being classified as fine as a 57 Chevy. Oh, my!
My dear Danny has always called me ‘old,’ so 57 shouldn’t bother me at all.
My sister and I lack three weeks being exactly two years apart. She will be 59 on July 21. She shared a birthday with my paternal grandfather; therefore, we always celebrated birthdays with my grandparents. When my grandfather turned 71, Deedee turned 17.
I loved my grandmother’s ‘Old Black Cake.’ The cake itself was light chocolate with evaporated milk icing. She also made a Watergate Cake which was a vanilla cake with pistachio pudding added. This was Deedee’s favorite.
I cherish these times with my grandparents! i had a truly blessed childhood and they were a big part of it.
